Elena Kratter comes away empty-handed in the 100 m final at the Paralympics in Paris. After winning bronze in the long jump, the athlete from central Switzerland missed out on another medal in fifth place at the Stade de France.
In 15.00 seconds, Kratter improved her personal best by two hundredths. However, the 28-year-old from Schwyz would have needed a much bigger exploit to be in contention for a place on the podium. She lost a good four tenths to third-placed Briton Ndidikama Okoh.
Gold went to Italy's Martina Caironi, who also benefited from a stumble by her compatriot Ambra Sabatini. With victory in sight, Sabatini crashed shortly before the finish line, taking another Italian with her.
Kratter thus leaves Paris with the same result as Tokyo three years previously. She had already won bronze in the long jump back then.
