The chances of a repeat of last year's coup in the team sprints at the Cross-Country World Cup in Davos have diminished considerably.

Back then, Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond (2nd) in the men's race and Anja Weber and Nadine Fähndrich (3rd) in the women's race had two podium finishes. Now Grond and Fähndrich will not be at the start on Friday.

Like several others in the Swiss team, Valerio Grond is suffering from a sore throat and will therefore not be competing. It is not yet clear whether he will be able to compete in the individual sprint on Saturday. Janik Riebli will therefore run together with the young Engadin Noe Näff.

Nadine Fähndrich had already toyed with the idea of not taking part in the team sprint during her preparations, as she had to pay for her efforts the following day last year. This year, she would like to try to win the overall sprint classification in the World Cup after various places of honor. Anja Weber is therefore teaming up with Lea Fischer.

Nadja Kälin and Jason Rüesch are also currently ill. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to compete in the 20 km classic race on Sunday.
