The World Cup weekend in Le Grand-Bornand, close to the border, gets off to a disappointing start for the Swiss biathletes. In the 7.5 km sprint, no one made it into the World Cup points.

Lena Häcki-Gross (45th), Amy Baserga (50th) and Aita Gasparin (54th) at least qualify for Saturday's pursuit in Haute-Savoie with their top-60 finishes. Lea Meier and World Cup debutant Coralie Langel finished 66th and 82nd respectively.

The victory went to Sweden's Hanna Öberg, who came out on top ahead of France's Lou Jeanmonnot and Italy's Dorothea Wierer. Like the entire top 6, the trio remained clear at the shooting range. Apart from Gasparin (one miss), the Swiss women all made at least two mistakes.
