The weeks go by and look similar for Noè Ponti. The swimmer from Ticino took victory in the 100 m dolphin on Friday in Westmont, just as he had done seven days earlier in Carmel at the start of the World Cup in the short course pool. And he came second in the 100 m medley, just like in Carmel.

Noè Ponti won the 100 m butterfly in 48''47, six hundredths better than in Carmel and thus achieved the seventh best time in history at this distance in the 25-meter pool. As in Indiana, he was well ahead of his first pursuer, the Canadian Ilya Karhun (49''00).

When he jumped back into the water a few minutes later, the bronze medal winner in the 100 m dolphin at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo was in second place in the 100 m medley final. He achieved a time of 50''76 (51''13 in Carmel) and was once again beaten by American Shaine Casas (50''45).

Ponti is entered for the 200 m dolphin on Saturday in Illinois and for the 50 m dolphin on Sunday. But he could well miss out on the 200m, as was the case a week earlier in Carmel.
