It was the Tokyo Olympic champion's second title in Basel since 2019. Above all, the victory over Line Kjaersfeldt, currently the best European woman in the world at 21st place, was further confirmation that Chen Yu Fei is on the rise again. Her last tournament victory was in June 2024; after the Olympic Games in Paris, she had practically taken a six-month break. Among other things, she took a ten-week language course in Melbourne during this time - she now gives informative interviews in English.

Chen's compatriot Weng Hong Yang won the men's singles, securing his second major title after last year's China Open. He gave Frenchman Christo Popov no chance in the final. In the only final without Chinese participation, Thailand beat Indonesia in the men's doubles.

The 35th edition of the highlight of the Swiss badminton year was a complete success. High-quality tableaux ensured full stands and a total of 14,000 spectators. On the last day of the tournament, there was also the positive news that Japanese title sponsor Yonex had extended its expiring contract by five years until 2030.
