The first Olympic champion in the history of the ski touring race came out on top ahead of Italy's Giulia Morada and Germany's Tatjana Paller, while Caroline Ulrich from Vaud narrowly missed out on the podium. Marianne Fatton added yet another title to her rich list of successes. She is now Olympic, world and European champion.
In the men's event, Thomas Bussard finished second behind Russia's Nikita Filippov. The man from Freiburg, who was not selected for the Olympic Games, did better than his compatriot Jon Kistler (4th), who won silver in the mixed relay in Bormio together with Marianne Fatton.
