Will not be aiming for a second Olympic gold medal in Milan: Figure skater Nathan Chen
Keystone
Olympic figure skating champion Nathan Chen will not be defending his gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, the 26-year-old American has announced.
In an interview with the "Los Angeles Times", Chen stated that he would rather continue his medical studies than compete again. In addition to his gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, he was also a three-time world champion (2018, 2019 and 2021).
Last year, he graduated from the renowned Yale University, where he plans to continue his medical training in cardiology and oncology. "Being a doctor is about helping people, and that's something I didn't necessarily feel as an athlete," he emphasized.
