The Place de la Concorde, the Champs-Elysées and 4,400 athletes: the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games will take place on Wednesday (8 pm) in a magnificent Parisian setting.
Around 30,000 spectators will be able to watch the three-hour opening ceremony of the 17th Paralympic Games from the stands on the Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris. Additional areas have also been set up for fans at the Champs-Elysées and the Louvre, where they will also be able to watch the lighting of the Paralympic flame.
Around 4,400 athletes from 168 delegations will make their way from the Champs-Elysées to the Place de la Concorde, where a "physical show" entitled "Paradoxe" will be performed on a stage.
The choreographer of the show is the Swede Alexander Ekman, who hopes that his work will "make people think and see things from a new perspective", as he told the French news agency AFP. For the first time, he also worked with dancers with disabilities.
The music was once again composed by Victor Le Masne, the composer of the Olympic Games anthem.
The closing ceremony will take place on September 8 at the Stade de France. There will be an electro concert with 24 artists and DJs.
