The Grisons native has been a member of the association's Executive Board since 2012, first as Vice-President and then from summer 2024 as Co-President alongside Urs Lehmann. Following Lehmann's resignation due to his move to the FIS World Federation, Barandun has now been promoted to sole President.

He received 100 percent of the votes from the representatives of the regional associations and ski clubs. The Swiss-Ski Executive Committee had already unanimously agreed at the end of August that Barandun should be the sole President of the association. As a result, there were no opposing candidates.

Professionally, Peter Barandun is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electrolux Switzerland. He will continue to perform this role in full following his election as President of Swiss-Ski.

The next ordinary Assembly of Delegates of Swiss-Ski will take place on July 4, 2026 in Schangnau.
