"It may sound a bit crazy given how little time is left until the Olympic Games. But I have decided to fight for the chance to take part," said Vlhova on social media. The Slovakian explained that she will make her decision about whether to compete 48 hours before the Olympic slalom on February 18.

The healing of the cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee had not progressed as desired due to cartilage problems. Vlhova had to have another operation in March 2025. "I had no life left. I couldn't do anything anymore, not run, not cycle, not ski," she said at the time. The situation was also very stressful psychologically. In the video released on Saturday, the 31-time World Cup winner spoke to the camera beaming with joy. Her announcement was preceded by a successful medical test.
