St. Louis ends its bad streak in the NHL also thanks to goal scorer Pius Suter. The Blues beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 in front of their home crowd.

The Blues truly had the Blues. They had seven losses in a row, only the Calgary Flames had a worse record in this early phase of the championship.

For a long time, it looked like another defeat against the Oilers. The visitors from Edmonton led 2-0 until four minutes before the end of the second period, when the Slovakian Dalibor Dvorsky reduced the deficit and the Canadian Robert Thomas equalized two minutes later. Pius Suter decided the game with his fifth goal of the season. The Zurich native scored 83 seconds before the end.

On the Oilers' side, Connor McDavid was once again the center of attention. The Canadian was the assist man on both goals and now has 1101 points in regular seasons. McDavid surpassed the 1100-point mark in his 726th game in qualifying. Only an illustrious trio was faster in this regard. Wayne Gretzky achieved this in 464 games, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy needed 550 and 725 games respectively.

The Nashville Predators, who are still without their captain Roman Josi, lost their home game against the Vancouver Canucks 4:5 after overtime. Josi missed his sixth game in a row due to an upper-body injury he suffered in the first game of the season against the Canucks almost two weeks ago.
