The seventh-placed rider at the Paris 2024 Olympics was only beaten in Italy by local heroine and Giro d'Italia winner Elisa Longo Borghini and European road champion Demi Vollering.
Third place is a good result for the 24-year-old, who crossed the finish line just 19 seconds behind the winner. Rüegg had already impressed at the World Championships in Rwanda and at the European Championships in France, where she won bronze as one of the riders in the team relay.
