One day after winning the gold medal in the 50 m dolphin, Noè Ponti easily qualified for the semi-finals over the double distance at the European Short Course Championships in Lublin, Poland, as expected.
With 49.68 seconds, the 24-year-old from Ticino achieved the third-best time of the preliminary heats - the fastest was the Frenchman Maxime Grousset in 49.58 seconds.
Ponti had emphasized the day before that he wanted to save as much energy as possible in the morning. This is because in the evening he will not only compete in the semi-final of the 100 m dolphin, but also in the final of the 100 m medley. He is also the favorite in this discipline. Ponti is aiming for four gold medals in Poland. He is also the defending champion in the 100 m dolphin and the double distance.
For the other Swiss athletes, the preliminary heats on the third day of competition meant the end of the line.
