The swimmer from Ticino swam the fourth-best time in the preliminary heats, while Frédéric Hoigné and Maël Allegrini clearly missed out on qualification. The fourth Swiss swimmer, Gian-Luca Gartmann, did not compete. Angelina Patt was also eliminated in the women's preliminaries.

Ponti, however, will be back in action on Wednesday evening. He will be competing for the medals in the 50 m dolphin final from 7.05 pm. He will then compete in the semi-finals of the 100 m medley at 20:25.

Antonio Djakovic, on the other hand, was unable to impress in the 200 m crawl. The 23-year-old from Zurich, who won silver in the same distance at the 2022 European Championships in Rome and bronze in 2024, failed to qualify directly for the semi-finals in Lublin. He is one of two reserve athletes.
