The ZSC Lions are reacting to the injury-related absence of their newly signed Canadian Andy Andreoff by signing the Swede Pontus Aberg until the end of the year.
Aberg already knows the Swiss league very well: he played 22 games for the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers in 2023. After a brief stint in the KHL with Barys Astana, the 31-year-old forward returned to the National League last season and played for the Lakers and EHC Kloten again.
"We were specifically looking for a forward who we could use on the power play and in the box," said ZSC's team manager Sven Leuenberger in a club statement, praising Aberg's versatility - without forgetting his scoring qualities: In 81 games in Switzerland's top league, the Scandinavian collected 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists).
