Nikola Portner is going for the Champions League handball title with Magdeburg. Thanks in part to the Swiss keeper, the Germans outplayed defending champions Barcelona 31:30 in the semi-final.
Portner made eight saves and made the Catalans' star ensemble desperate at times. The player from Bern now has the chance to win his third title in the handball premier class on Sunday. He triumphed once before with Magdeburg in 2023 and with the French side Montpellier in 2018.
In the final on Sunday (6 p.m.), Germany will face Füchse Berlin, who won their semi-final against Nantes with the Swiss Noam Leopold 34:24.
