Michael Moser wins the Emmental festival in Burgdorf. In the final round, the only 19-year-old sub-association wreath fighter wins his first wreath victory of his career by defeating Adrian Walther.
With five victories - including against Swiss nationals Florian Gnägi and Patrick Gobeli - the young Emmental native went into the final round of his home festival as the leader with a half-point lead. He fended off all attacks from his physically superior opponent for twelve minutes.
Moser was still unable to put Walther, four years his senior, to the sawdust in their fifth duel. Nevertheless, the up-and-coming talent from Biglen came out on top for the very first time in his career - just two days after winning his 16th wreath in the same arena at the Oberaargauischen.
Burgdorf remains the focus of the wrestlers. On Sunday, August 11, the third festival in eleven days will take place at the venue of the 2013 Swiss Federal Championships with the Bernese-Cantonal Championships. The locals will face strong competition from eastern and central Switzerland.
