Ben O'Connor remains in the red jersey at the Vuelta. The Australian will not be attacked by Primoz Roglic, as the culmination point of the last climb is just 20 km before the finish.

The Slovenian even came under pressure briefly on the descent to the finish. Roglic suffered a flat tire and had to catch up again with a teammate's racing bike.

The majority of the peloton stayed together. The 200 km long stage from Villafranco del Bierzo to Villablino was won in a bunch sprint by Australian Kaden Groves ahead of Wout van Aert. Groves had already won the second stage, Van Aert missed out on a fourth stage win.

In the overall classification, O'Connor remains 1:21 minutes ahead of Roglic. However, this is likely to change on Sunday's very steep uphill finish at Cuitu Negru. The climb in the "Especial" category is up to 24 percent steep. Before that, two first-category passes are already on the program.
