Retirement of train driver Imhof

Imhof announced his retirement from cycling on Facebook and spoke of "a journey full of passion and challenges". He now wants to tackle training as a train driver with the same energy.

Imhof's greatest success was probably the 2016 World Championship bronze medal in the scratch event in London. With a total of nine medals (3 silver, 6 bronze) at European Championships and European Games, he is also Switzerland's most successful collector of precious metals. He also took part in several Tour de Suisse road races and occasionally wore the mountain prize jersey. The biggest downer is probably that he never managed to take part in the Olympics.

Imhof also suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2022 and had to fight for months to recover. He doesn't want to say goodbye to track racing quite yet. If his training makes it possible, he would like to compete in standing races on the open track in Oerlikon next summer, writes the man from eastern Switzerland.
