Swiss tennis pro Alexander Ritschard wins the clay court Challenger tournament in Salzburg. As a result, the Zurich native will be higher in the latest rankings than ever before.
The 30-year-old Ritschard (ATP 175) lived up to his role as favorite in the final in the city of Mozart. He beat Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet (ATP 239) 6:4, 6:2. On his way to the final, the Swiss number 8 seed had beaten the top-seeded Argentinian Federico Coria (ATP 72) in three sets in the quarter-finals.
This is Ritschard's third tournament win in this category. In April, he won the Challenger tournament in Savannah in the US state of Georgia, and in 2022 he won in Hamburg.
Ritschard will make a big leap forward in the latest ranking and enter the top 140 for the first time. His best ranking to date was 152nd place.
