With Valentina Ryser and Leandro Riedi, two Swiss players keep their chance of qualifying for Wimbledon.
The big surprise is Ryser (WTA 236). The 23-year-old from Bern is playing her first ever qualifying tournament for a Grand Slam tournament and is now in the 3rd and deciding round. There she will face the American Robin Montgomery (WTA 160).
Riedi (ATP 138) needs a win against the Australian left-hander Alex Bolt (ATP 234) on Thursday to qualify for the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. As a specialty of Wimbledon, this last round of qualifying is played in three sets.
Alexander Ritschard (ATP 178) failed in an extremely annoying manner. The Zurich native lost to Otto Virtanen (ATP 149) after leading 7:6, 5:2 and having missed four match points on his own serve.
