The jubilation of the Bernese women after winning the championship title is boundless

The women of SC Bern secure the championship title for the first time. They beat Zug 3:2 after overtime in the third game of the final and won the best-of-five series 3:0.
The Bernese women, who had finished the qualification in 1st place, saved themselves in extremis in overtime. After falling behind twice, Kaleigh Quennec equalized one second before the end of regulation time to make it 2:2 when the hosts were without their outstanding goalkeeper Saskia Maurer. In overtime, Estelle Duvin scored the winner after 4:59 minutes. The fact that the 28-year-old Frenchwoman was responsible for the decision was not without a certain logic, as she was the best scorer in qualifying.
SC Bern took over the women's team from Bomo Thun in 2023. In the first two seasons, the Bernese team lost in the final to the ZSC Lions. This time, they won all six games in the playoffs, having already prevailed 3-0 in the semi-final against Ambri-Piotta.
Saskia Maurer was only beaten three times in the three final games by the strong Zug offense led by Lara Stalder. In the regular season, the SCB women had lost all four duels against the Central Swiss team, who were promoted last year. The EVZ women therefore missed out on the double.
