Scheffler played a final round of 71 at the Quail Hollow Club and ended up winning by five strokes ahead of US compatriots Harrison English, Bryson DeChambeau and Davis Riley, who shared second place with 278 strokes each. Scheffler, the Olympic champion in Paris, had already won the Masters in Augusta in 2022 and 2024.
The 28-year-old went into the final round in the state of North Carolina on Monday night Swiss time with a six-shot lead. Rory McIlroy, who completed the career Grand Slam with his victory at the Masters in Augusta in April, did not get up to speed this week. He played a final round of 72 and finished in 47th place.
