In a complicated series with various ups and downs, Swiss sailors Sébastien Schneiter and Arno de Planta qualify for the medal race. However, the medals are out of reach.

In difficult wind conditions, the two 49er sailors started the final day of qualifying brilliantly with a 6th and a 4th place and were even in the lead for a while in the third race of the day. They climbed to bronze in the virtual ranking. However, two penalty curls at the first turning mark dashed their hopes of a top place.

"It's a shame that we didn't manage three good races in a row today either," Schneiter summarized. "Overall, we are satisfied with our performance. The conditions were very difficult and all the top teams struggled." De Planta added: "We showed time and again that we can sail at the front - unfortunately, we made too many small mistakes that cost us dearly. Now we're focusing on the medal race and going for it again there." Schneiter/De Planta are in 8th place, 16 points behind the medals, ahead of the double-counting final medal race for the top ten.

Elia Colombo suffered a setback in the iQ Foil windsurfers. The man from Ticino was disqualified in race 7 after a false start. This dropped him down to 12th place in the overall standings. However, there are still five races on the program on the last day of qualification on Thursday, so qualification for the final series of the top 10 is still possible.
