The Seattle Seahawks have won their conference in the NFL and secured an advantage for the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can still hope for the same, but need support.
The Seattle Seahawks secured top spot in the NFC on the last matchday of the regular season. The 2014 Super Bowl winners defeated the San Francisco 49ers 13:3 on the road to put themselves in an ideal position for the upcoming playoffs in the National Football League. The win secured the Seahawks a first-round bye and gives them home field advantage in every game on the road to the Super Bowl.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to end their losing streak. In the decisive game against the Carolina Panthers, the team led by quarterback Baker Mayfield won 16-14 to keep their playoff hopes alive.
With 8-9 wins each, both teams are now reliant on a shootout, as only the winner of the NFC South will advance to the playoffs. Tampa needs a win by the New Orleans Saints against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night or a draw, while Carolina is hoping for the Falcons. Atlanta would also get to 8-9 with a win, but no longer has a shot at the playoffs because of head-to-head matchups.
