Canadian coach Serge Aubin, who has a past as a player and coach in Switzerland, led the team from the capital to a 4:1 victory in the final series against Adler Mannheim.
The Eisbären had only finished the qualifiers in 6th place. In the playoffs, they came out on top against the Straubing Tigers, the qualifying winners Kölner Haie and Adler Mannheim. Overall, it is the twelfth championship title for the Berliners.
