Kadetten Schaffhausen suffered a setback in the group stage of the European League on the fourth of six match days. As expected, BSV Bern has no chance.
One week after their 30:29 away win at Nexe Nasice, Kadetten were beaten 31:32 at home. After going 21:21 behind in the 45th minute, Schaffhausen trailed 23:26 by the 52nd minute. For the first time in this game, a team was three goals ahead. The visitors then controlled the game; they led by four goals four times, most recently at 32:28 (59'). Kadetten's center Lucas Meister only scored to make it 31:32 practically on the final buzzer.
One of the reasons for the defeat: Goalkeepers Morena Car (4) and Leon Bergmann (3) made just seven saves between them. However, Odinn Rikhardsson was convincing, putting all eight shots on goal and was the game's most successful scorer. A win would have brought the cadets much closer to the main round, but the Croatians are now one point ahead of them at the top of Group H.
As expected, BSV Bern remain without points in Group B. It lost 27:37 at top German team Kiel, where the visitors kept up well until 8:9 before the favorites pulled away. At the break, the team from Bern trailed 14:19 and in the 39th minute the score was 16:26. While Michael Kusio scored eight times for BSV, Bence Imre was Kiel's best scorer with ten goals (no misses). Lukas Laube, the Swiss pivot for the Germans, scored three times.
