The second finalist in the Swiss League will be determined in a seventh and final game. Olten evens the semi-final series against Basel at 3-3 with a clear 7-0 home win.
Olten, who were only ranked 7th in the qualifiers, continue to play big in the playoffs. After their 4-2 win against second-placed La Chaux-de-Fonds, the team from Solothurn now also put the qualification winners in serious trouble. Basel led the series 3:1 thanks to three wins in overtime, now everything is open again.
The game in Olten was initially strikingly similar to the one in Basel two days earlier: Joel Marchon once again put his team ahead with an early brace, and Nolan Cattin again increased the lead shortly before the first intermission in overtime. It was only with the fourth goal that there was a slight deviation from the script of the previous game: Simon Sterchi scored instead of Kyen Sopa - Sopa provided the assist.
There was no reaction from Basel this time, and Sunday's 2:5 was followed by a 0:7 drubbing. Coach Eric Himelfarb's team is looking for form, but has little time to do so: Game 7 takes place in Basel on Friday. Then it will be clear who will face the fourth-placed team Visp in the final.
