Six of the eight Olympic finalists are competing in the women's 100 m at Weltklasse Zürich. The US world champion Sha'Carri Richardson managed a successful revenge in the Letzigrund.
Thanks to a strong finish of 10.84 seconds on the wet track, the 24-year-old beat Olympic champion Julien Alfred from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, who finished second in 10.88 seconds, just ahead of Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith (10.89). Mujinga Kambundji from Bern finished 8th and penultimate with a time of 11.14 seconds.
The American Olympic champions Grant Holloway and Ryan Crouser were not to be outdone in the 110 m hurdles and shot put respectively. Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchich, the gold medal winner from Paris, also won the women's high jump.
