The Swiss orienteering team can celebrate another medal at the European Sprint Championships in Belgium. Simona Aebersold from Bern wins bronze in the knockout sprint.
The long-distance world champion was beaten only by Cécile Calandry from France and Pia Young Vik from Norway in the final of the best six in the city center of the small Belgian town of Geel. Natalia Gemperle finished in 5th place after a fall in the final.
In the men's event, Timo Suter also finished fifth in the Swedish double victory by August Mollen and Jonatan Gustafsson.
Aebersold had won the silver medal in the mixed relay together with Gemperle, Riccardo Rancan and Joey Hadorn at the start of the championships on Wednesday. The final event on Sunday is the individual sprint.
