Andrea Ellenberger's serious training crash before the World Cup in Semmering on Friday has resulted in the premature end of her season.
The 31-year-old from Nidwalden suffered a lower leg fracture, a sprained knee and several severe bruises, as reported by Swiss-Ski.
Ellenberger underwent surgery on her lower right leg in Zurich. "After the successful operation, a rehabilitation phase of several months will now follow," Walter O. Frey, the doctor responsible at Swiss-Ski, is quoted as saying in the association's press release. She will therefore no longer be able to take part in races this season.
