The 52-year-old Assinger, head coach of the Austrian women's ski racers until the end of last season, is taking over responsibility for the men's European Cup speed team (downhill and super-G).

As Ski Austria announced, the association is restructuring the men's European Cup team and there will be three training groups in future. Three-time Olympic champion Matthias Mayer will be responsible for the all-round team (giant slalom, super-G and downhill).
