Gino Caviezel is returning to racing after a 13-month injury break. The 33-year-old from Graubünden is in the Swiss-Ski line-up for Tuesday's World Cup giant slalom in Schladming.
Caviezel crashed in the super-G in Bormio on December 29, 2024 and suffered a complex injury to his right knee. During the operation, which took place at the end of January 2025, his posterior cruciate ligament, meniscus and collateral ligament were reconstructed and three tendons were attached to the knee joint.
In 165 World Cup starts to date, Gino Caviezel has stood on the podium three times, most recently in January 2023 in the night giant slalom in Schladming in second place behind his victorious compatriot Loïc Meillard.
