The official ceremony attracted 700 to 800 people to the sports and culture hall in the community of 2000 inhabitants in the Gruyère region, where the La Berra ski lifts are located. Before gathering there, the participants marched there with torches from the village church.

26-year-old Mathilde Gremaud, who comes from La Roche, defended her Olympic victory in slopestyle and won the gold medal again on February 9 in Livigno. However, due to an injury sustained during training, she was unable to take part in the big air competition a few days later.

The 30-year-old Marianne Fatton from Neuchâtel, who has made La Roche her adopted home, became the first female Olympic champion in the history of ski mountaineering/sprint on February 19 in Bormio. Two days later, she won the silver medal in the mixed relay together with Jon Kistler from Zurich.

Gremaud and Fatton were congratulated by representatives of the cantonal and communal authorities. Philippe Demierre, President of the Council of State, the cantonal government of Fribourg, was present along with his colleagues Romain Collaud and Didier Castella, as well as the mayor of La Roche, Bertrand Gaillard.
