Lara Gut-Behrami narrowly misses out on victory in the World Cup Super-G in Kvitfjell and is accordingly annoyed. The skier from Ticino took second place behind the Italian Federica Brignone.
It was close at the top of the rankings. Gut-Behrami was beaten by just six hundredths. Brignone's compatriot Sofia Goggia was three hundredths slower than the Swiss skier. The close gaps also continued behind the racers on the podium. World champion Stephanie Venier was only 39 hundredths behind in 8th place.
Gut-Behrami showed the reaction she had hoped for after finishing 12th and 8th in the two downhill races on the previous days - and maintained her consistency in the World Cup Super-G. In addition to the victory in Garmisch, she has three second places and one fifth place on her season's record. Her worst result was 8th place at the World Championships in Saalbach of all places.
Nevertheless, Gut-Behrami was not satisfied. Once again, she was annoyed by a mistake that cost her a lot of time and meant she missed out on victory. The mistake in the middle section left her around seven tenths of a second behind.
Malorie Blanc second best Swiss
Brignone took her eighth World Cup victory this winter, reducing the gap between her and Gut-Behrami in the super-G rankings by 20 to 55 points. There are still three Super-Gs to go this winter.
The second best Swiss racer in Kvitfjell was Malorie Blanc. The young Valais skier secured 14th place and was therefore ranked directly ahead of Corinne Suter. In contrast to Gut-Behrami, Blanc from Schwyz was unable to improve on her disappointing results in the two downhill races in Kvitfjell.
