The Valais village of Héremence celebrated "its" ski stars Loïc and Mélanie Meillard in style on Friday evening. The official reception to mark the end of the World Cup season was attended by several hundred spectators.

It was a great pleasure for him and Mélanie to be back in their home town after such a successful season, explained slalom world champion Loïc Meillard at the event. During the season, they are always absent for a long time.
After the end of the season, the time had come to celebrate their success without stress and thoughts of the next race, said the third in the overall World Cup, second in the Slalom World Cup and World Champion in the Team Combined (with Franjo von Allmen).
The two Meillards have been shining in the Ski World Cup for several seasons. Although not quite as successful as her brother Loïc, who is two years older, Mélanie Meillard can look back on her best World Cup season to date this year. Thanks to a strong performance, she finished 8th in the Slalom World Cup. She had to battle with injuries for several years.
