Marcel Hirscher will be missing the World Cup opener in Sölden on Sunday. This was announced by Patrick Riml, project manager of Hirscher's sponsor Red Bull, on Servus TV on Monday evening.
"Unfortunately, he won't be at the start. The rehab went really well, it looked very good, but unfortunately he's been ill for the last two and a half weeks," said Riml, referring to the 36-year-old Dutchman's lack of training days as a result.
Hirscher only made his first turns in the snow at the beginning of September, nine months after tearing his cruciate ligament.
