Mauro Pini is no longer Petra Vlhova's coach. The team of the still convalescing Slovakian has announced the end of its collaboration with the Ticino native.
"We have decided to part ways with our head coach Mauro Pini by mutual agreement. This decision should allow him to continue his coaching career without restrictions," the statement reads.
The former Swiss Ski head coach succeeded the Italian Livio Magoni and worked alongside the Slovakian for four years, leading her to Olympic victory in the slalom three years ago.
In the season just ended, 29-year-old Petra Vlhova was unable to compete in any races. The healing of the cruciate ligament rupture in her right knee, which she suffered last January in front of a home crowd in Jasna in the giant slalom, is still not progressing as desired. The reason for this is cartilage problems, which made another operation necessary a few days ago.
