Marco Odermatt has to admit defeat in the super-G in Beaver Creek. After numerous interruptions due to the weather, Austria's Vincent Kriechmayr triumphs. Franjo von Allmen crashes heavily - but fortunately remains uninjured.
Kriechmayr distanced the Norwegian Fredrik Möller by 56 hundredths. His compatriot Haaser has already lost more than a second. This is Kriechmayr's 19th World Cup victory, his 10th in the super-G. His last triumph was some time ago. The last time the 34-year-old topped the podium was in February 2024 at the super-G in Kvitfjell.
Marco Odermatt was far from a double after winning the downhill the day before. The winner of the first super-G of the season finished fifth, 1.23 seconds behind Kriechmayr and two tenths off the podium. If he made the difference in the steep slope on Thursday, he lost the race a day later in the same place with a skiing error.
Franjo von Allmen's heavy crash ends lightly
Like many other riders, Franjo von Allmen had to contend with the difficult conditions. The 24-year-old from Bern hit a bump in the middle section that knocked him off balance and ultimately caused him to fall. The downhill world champion landed in the net, but was able to ski to the finish on his own.
At the time of his fall, the conditions were so bad - wind coupled with snowfall and fog - that the race had to be interrupted for around half an hour afterwards. It was one of several interruptions that the jury was forced to make due to the changeable weather. The start of the race had already had to be postponed by half an hour.
