It just wasn't meant to be: The legendary Streif is not kind to Marco Odermatt this year either. Despite a great run, the Swiss skier fell just short of the best time set by Italian shooting star Giovanni Franzoni.
It was his big goal for the season, but although he wants to succeed in everything else, Odermatt will have to wait at least another year for his first victory in the downhill on the Hahnenkamm. The 28-year-old loses 7 hundredths to Giovanni Franzoni (see video above).
Odermatt's disappointment is clear to see in the finish area. After looking at his time, the man from Buoch hangs his head and leans on his ski poles. He remains in place for a while before standing up and waving to the fans.
