Marco Odermatt wins the first Super-G of the season in Copper Mountain and celebrates his second victory in his second outing. Vincent Kriechmayr and Raphael Haaser complete the podium.
Odermatt's gap to the two Austrians is just eight and 13 hundredths respectively. The best super-G skier of the past three years made the difference on the short and less demanding course with a solid run. Odermatt was not the fastest in any section, but he was at the finish. This is the 28-year-old world champion's 47th World Cup victory, his 16th in the super-G.
The other Swiss racers were unable to get involved in the battle for the podium places. Stefan Rogentin was the second-best Swiss-Ski athlete in 7th place, 45 hundredths behind Haaser, who finished second in the World Championships. Franjo von Allmen in 9th place is the third Swiss athlete in the top 10.
Aleksander Kilde celebrated his comeback after almost two years of suffering. 683 days after his momentous crash in the downhill in Wengen, the 33-year-old Norwegian showed a solid run. He only lost 1.25 seconds to the leader Odermatt.
