Two Swiss racers take first and second place in the super-G in Kitzbühel. Marco Odermatt celebrates his second victory on the Streif, Franjo von Allmen comes second.

Marco Odermatt crossed the finish line three hundredths ahead of his compatriot, who had impressed with the fastest final section. This is the third time this season that the two exceptional skiers have taken the top two places. Previously, they had finished first and second in the two downhill races in Val Gardena/Gröden.

This is Odermatt's 53rd World Cup victory and the 99th podium finish of his career. In Kitzbühel last year, he skied to victory for the first time - also in the Super-G. With another success, he extends his lead in the discipline rankings after two recent 4th places. Franjo von Allmen can be pleased to be on the Super-G podium for the third time in a row, despite the narrow gap.

Just behind the two Swiss racers were two Austrians, Stefan Babinsky and Raphael Haaser. In a race with close time gaps, they lost 25 and 33 hundredths respectively to the winner Odermatt. This allowed the home fans to celebrate another podium finish: in the 22 Super-G races in Kitzbühel to date, only in 2019 has no Austrian made it onto the podium.

Stefan Rogentin had temporarily taken the lead with start number 8, but then fell behind several riders. However, the man from Graubünden remained in the top 10 in eighth place in the sixth super-G of the season and can therefore justifiably hope to be selected for the Olympic Games.

Murisier and Monney miss out on top 30

Marco Kohler (26th) was the fourth Swiss racer to finish in the points. Justin Murisier missed out by four hundredths in 32nd place. Meanwhile, Alexis Monney, who was weakened by a cold, had to settle for 40th place.

Alessio Miggiano and Arnau Boisset, who caused a general moment of shock, were eliminated. The man from Valais lost control on the first jump and hit the hard piste. After brief treatment, however, he was given the all-clear and then raced to the finish on his own.

The race continues in Kitzbühel with the downhill on Saturday. Odermatt has never been able to win this race. He has finished second twice (2022, 2024) and third once (2024).
