Alexander Schmid has to end the alpine skiing season prematurely after suffering another cruciate ligament rupture.
The German, who won gold in the parallel race at the 2023 World Championships in Méribel, suffered the serious injury to his left knee in a fall during training. The 30-year-old technical specialist, who underwent surgery on Thursday, will therefore also miss the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm in February.
A cruciate ligament rupture had already set the Allgäuer back after his World Championship title last year.
