Lucas Pinheiro Braathen wins the last giant slalom of the winter in Hafjell and catches Marco Odermatt in the battle for the small crystal globe. Loïc Meillard finishes on the podium in second place.

As at the Olympic Games and in Kranjska Gora, there was no getting past Pinheiro Braathen in Hafjell. The Norwegian competing for Brazil, who was already leading after the first run, celebrated his eighth victory in the World Cup, his fourth in the giant slalom.

Pinheiro Braathen also capitalized on Marco Odermatt's slip-up. The man from Nidwalden was eliminated in the first run and thus missed out on his fifth small crystal globe in a row in the giant slalom. Pinheiro Braathen gratefully accepted, made up the 48-point deficit and secured Brazil's first crystal globe in the Alpine Ski World Cup. It was the second small crystal globe for the 25-year-old himself. In 2023, he won the discipline classification in the slalom, back then still for Norway.

Loïc Meillard also still had a real chance of winning the globe before the second run and after Odermatt's elimination. The French-Swiss racer, who won in Hafjell the previous year, would have had to win the race and at the same time hope for a slip-up by Pinheiro Braathen in the form of a 4th place. Neither happened. Meillard did his job and put the leader under pressure. However, he held his ground and confidently managed his large lead. In the end, he beat Meillard by 58 hundredths and the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath by 87 hundredths to the other podium places.

Luca Aerni (16th) and Thomas Tumler (17th) finished just outside the top 15 for which points are awarded at the season finale.
