Raphael Haaser crashed last weekend in the giant slalom in Hafjell. Just a few gates before the finish, the world champion gets one hand caught on the gate, falls and crashes onto his back.
Haaser remains lying on the ground at first, but later skis into the finish area on his own two feet and with a bloodied face. "I threw everything into it," Haaser writes on Instagram about his second run in Norway, after finishing eighth in the first run.
The Austrian is satisfied with his ability to go all in. His aggressive run ends with a crash. "I'm glad that I survived this crash with nothing more than a few broken teeth."
Haaser continues: "The pain, even if it is unbearable today, usually turns into strength one day."
It is uncertain when Haaser will regain his previous strength. It is not clear from his Instagram post whether he will be competing at the World Cup final in Sun Valley.
