This means that the dream duo of Shiffrin in the slalom and Lindsey Vonn in the downhill, which former champion Vonn had hoped for, will come to nothing. "I have to keep my energy together and prepare for the giant slalom and the slalom. I'm not able to take part in the team combined," Shiffrin wrote on social media.

Shiffrin suffered a deep abdominal wound at the end of November in a fall in the giant slalom in Killington, which required surgery. On January 30, the 29-year-old made her comeback in tenth place in the slalom in Courchevel. "As exciting as it was to race again in Courchevel, my team and I are continuing to take one step at a time while I work on getting back to 100 percent fitness." This is no easy task, every day so far has brought new challenges.

The women's team combined is scheduled for next Tuesday, followed by the giant slalom on Thursday and the slalom on Saturday. The 40-year-old Vonn said at a press conference that it would be "very cool" if 181 World Cup victories formed a team. Shiffrin stands at 99 successes, Vonn has achieved 82 in her career.
