Valérie Grenier surprisingly wins the last giant slalom of the winter in Hafjell. Mikaela Shiffrin secures victory in the overall World Cup for the sixth time.

Shiffrin defended her lead over Emma Aicher in the overall standings and is the second racer after Austria's Annemarie Moser-Pröll to win the overall World Cup six times.

The American made it exciting once again towards the end. After the first run, she was ranked outside the points, but in the decision she finally managed to win the globe on her own by moving up six places and thus gaining the necessary points to retain the top position even if Aicher were to win. Aicher went into the last race of the season 85 points behind and was classified in 3rd place after the first run. After a big mistake, the 22-year-old dropped back to 12th place behind Shiffrin in the second run.

Valérie Grenier won for the third time at the highest level. The 29-year-old Canadian confidently brought her half-time lead to the finish and thus prevented Norway's Mina Holtmann from taking her first World Cup victory. Julia Scheib completed the podium. The Austrian had already secured the small globe in the penultimate giant slalom of the season in Are.

The Swiss women were unable to compete for a place on the podium. Camille Rast finished sixth, 0.74 seconds off third place, while Vanessa Kasper showed two good runs and finished in 10th place. It was the first top 10 classification at World Cup level for the 29-year-old from Graubünden. Wendy Holdener finished at the bottom of the rankings after a completely unsuccessful first run.
