The 25-year-old Zulauf won the first race by a narrow margin ahead of Frenchman Ken Caillot in the area at the pass that connects the federal state of Tyrol with the province of Salzburg. Last year, the man from Vaud came second behind compatriot Alessio Miggiano and third in the same place.

There was also a Swiss podium finish in the second downhill on Monday. Lenz Hächler was only beaten by Caillot. The 22-year-old from Zug has already won four times in the European Cup, but he has never finished in the top three in a downhill race. Zulauf in 5th place was the second-best Swiss-Ski racer.
