The Swiss women put on another great performance in Schladming at the European Cup final in the giant slalom. Sue Piller wins, Dania Allenbach takes third place and wins the discipline classification.
Piller, who turns 21 in May, achieved her second victory at the second-highest level. In January, the skier from Fribourg also dominated the giant slalom in Sestriere in Piedmont.
Allenbach secured a permanent starting place in the upcoming World Cup season thanks to first place in the giant slalom rankings. The 19-year-old from the Bernese Oberland has already caused a stir in the World Cup this winter. In her first four starts in this discipline, she finished in the points three times.
The 20-year-old Shaienne Zehnder, who was leading in Schladming after the first run, dropped back to 4th place in the final ranking. The 20-year-old from the Bernese Oberland therefore still has to wait for her first podium finish in the European Cup. Janine Mächler, Simone Wild and Stefanie Grob rounded off the excellent performance of the Swiss racers with places 7, 9 and 10.
World Cup starting places also for Zurbrügg and Janutin
There were no further Swiss top rankings in the final men's giant slalom. Fadri Janutin and Sandro Zurbrügg from Oberland were the best of the Swiss Ski Team in 7th and 11th place, with Norway's Hans Grahl-Madsen winning ahead of France's Guerlain Favre.
The performance of the man from Graubünden and the man from the Bernese Oberland no longer had any influence on the discipline rankings. Zurbrügg secured victory ahead of Janutin. The duo are now guaranteed starting places in the World Cup giant slaloms next season.
