The Swiss celebrate a triple victory in the second downhill in Kvitfjell: World Champion Franjo von Allmen wins ahead of Marco Odermatt and postpones the decision on the small crystal globe. Stefan Rogentin comes third again.

As so often this season, the Swiss also delivered in the second-to-last downhill of the winter. They celebrated their second triple victory of the season. The Swiss already took all the podium places at their home race in Crans-Montana.

Switzerland has now won no fewer than six of the eight downhill races. 17 out of a possible 24 podium places show the impressive dominance of Swiss-Ski in the supreme discipline.

Von Allmen keeps up the pressure

As on the Valais high plateau, Franjo von Allmen prevailed in an internal duel against Marco Odermatt at the station in Norway. After his wild run the day before, which was enough for fourth place, the world champion produced an almost flawless run on Saturday. He distanced Odermatt, who in turn showed a wild run and did not get through without mistakes, by 28 hundredths.

With his second World Cup victory, the 23-year-old from the Bernese Oberland postponed the bullet decision in the downhill. If he had finished behind the man from Nidwalden, he would have had no chance of winning the small crystal globe. As it is, victory in the downhill classification will be decided at the season finale in Sun Valley, where Odermatt's 83-point lead means that the second small crystal globe in the supreme discipline is almost out of reach. A 14th place is enough for the 27-year-old, Von Allmen has to win in any case.

Rogentin's confirmation

Inspired by his first podium finish in the downhill the day before, Stefan Rogentin once again put in an outstanding performance. As on Friday, the man from Graubünden skied to third place, just 38 hundredths behind, and immediately doubled his time. In the end, he finished five hundredths behind Miha Hrobat, the fastest in the only training run.

Dominik Paris had to admit defeat. The Italian had already celebrated his fourth downhill victory in Kvitfjell on Friday, but lost almost six tenths to Von Allmen on Saturday and had to settle for 6th place.

Justin Murisier improved compared to the first downhill and finished in the top 10 in tenth place. Alexis Monney (12th) did not get up to speed as desired for once and finished just outside the top ten. The race ended bitterly for Marco Kohler. The man from the Bernese Oberland finished in 23rd place and narrowly missed out on the final of the top 25 downhill racers. Lars Rösti (29th) was the seventh Swiss racer to finish in the points.
